Week 2: The Power of the Holy Spirit

We Cannot Do This in Our Own Strength - We Need God's Power

📋 Introduction

In Week 1, we learned that evangelism is the calling of every believer and that Jesus has all authority. This week we see that we cannot fulfil that calling in our own strength — we need the power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:1–4 (KJV)
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
Acts 4:31 (KJV)
"And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."

• Why do you think Jesus told the disciples to wait until they had received the Spirit?

• Ask the Lord for opportunities to step out in boldness and witness to someone.
• Journal any changes you notice when you rely on the Spirit instead of your own strength.
